MAINE AGRICULTURAL FAIRS 2007

Three local fairs to consider are:

The Common Ground Fair, which features all organic seeds, fruits, vegetables and presents many fascinating "local" craftsmen, musicians and friendly people. We are always anticipating autumn, and this fair. September 21, 22, 23. www.mofga.org

The Skowhegan Fairn began in 1818 and lays claim to being the oldest continuously-running fair in the United States. This is the 189th year. August 9 through August 18. www.skowheganstatefair.com

The Fryeburg Fair which is Maine's largest agricultural fair. The timing of this fair is at the height of color season. With autumn harvests present, this fair is a wonderful event each year. September 30 – October 7. www.fryeburgfair.com

July 20 – July 22 Waterford World's Fair in North Waterford.
A small community fair.

July 26 – July 29 Pittston Fair in Pittston.

Large family fair, lots of rides and exhibits, horse pulling, harness racing, tractor pulling, demo derby.

August 1 – August 4 Monmouth Fair in Monmouth.

August 3 – August 5 Athens Fair in Athens.
Small country fair with animal exhibits, crafts and midway.

August 5 – August 11 Topsham Fair in Topsham.

August 9 – August 18 Skowhegan State Fair in Skowhegan.

August 23 – August 26 Piscataquis Valley Fair in Dover-Foxcroft.
A milking parlor with homemade ice cream, agricultural exhibits, crafts, midway, animal pull events.

August 23 – August 26 Acton Fair in Acton.
Outstanding exhibits, 4-H, livestock exhibit, flower show, animal pull events, midway.

August 26 – September 3 Windsor Fair in Windsor.
A large progressive fair with extensive agricultural, art/crafts exhibits. Large midway, animal pull events, harness racing, and mechanical pulling. www.windsorfair.com

August 30 – September 3 Bule Hill Fair in Blue Hill.

August 30 – September 3 Springhill Fair in Sprinfield.

August 31 – September 3 Harmony Fair in Harmony.

September 7 – September 9 Litchfield Fair in Litchfield.
Country fair with large midway, agricultural exhibits, livestock, animal pull events. Historical Fair Museum.

September 8 Cornish Horseman's Day in Cornish.
A day on the common. Very small with craft displays, exhibits, entertainment and petting animals.

September 9 – September 15 Oxford County Fair in Oxford.

September 14 – September 16 New Portland Lion's Fair in North New Portland (please note that this location is an hour north of us and should not be confused with Portland, Maine which is about an hour south of us).
Midway, exhibit hall, animal pull events, crafts, livestock exhibits.

September 16 – September 22 Farmington Fair in Farimington.
Large midway, exhibit halls, livestock exhibits, animal pull events, harness racing.

September 21 – September 23 Common Ground Fair in Unity.
