During some seasons we are privileged to view about a thousand migrating and native birds during a single day. An occasional eagle and osprey has been seen sailing overhead. Black terns nest in the area. During several periods of time, a stark white Arctic Owl has graced a large tree in the gardenyard.

Other expected locals include the "tap-dancing" deer herds which provide a formidable challenge to our lawn care professionals. Recently, nightly, a fat buck has been taking advantage of food offerings for the birds. Our seven local moose may be shy, but one of them seems to enjoy bellowing from behind the old barn. This musical moment is one we look forward to… and it provides a memory for those guests fortunate enough to be within earshot.

Let's walk down the West Road…

"Is it cold?
You shall find a comfortable fire.
Is it warm?
Sweet repose under a cool and grassy shade…"
